SoulNet session 1

8 Feb

The following blog posts are my notes from SoulNet last weekend. Some excellent stuff, if you can decipher the way it is typed up!

Friday evening – Ali Etheridge

Isaiah 30:15-18

As God tries to draw near to His people, so His people pull away from Him.
Are we in a place where the voice of God is drowned out by everything going on around us?
Where do we put our confidence? In God or in our strategy documents?
Do we look to meet the wants and needs of the people and young people around us, rather than the heart of God? Have we tried to fight our battles with our own strength, rather than God’s?
Repent and rest, and find salvation!
Let go of our sin, unbelief and fear. Return to God with all our hearts again.
Is life like a wasp that is stinging our hand, and we need to let it go? Are we gripping something that is stinging and hurting our ministry?
In repentance we find salvation – v15
Is the busyness of life squeezing God out?
God’s people rarely travelled above walking pace during the Exodus. Perhaps God’s love travels at 3mph? Maybe we need to stop and retreat to meet it?
Matthew 11:28-30 “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
V18 – “blessed are those who wait”
