Lent 2013 – day 27

11 Mar

Psalm 139:17-18
How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand. When I awake, I am still with you.

When looking through the other translations of these verses, I found this version, from The Voice:
Your thoughts and plans are treasures to me, O God! I cherish each and every one of them! How grand in scope! How many in number! If I could count each one of them, they would be more than all the grains of sand on earth. Their number is inconceivable! Even when I wake up, I am still near to You.

Verse 17 in The Voice talks about God’s thought also being plans, inconceivable in number and grand in scope. It reminded me of Jeremiah 29 verse 11:
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Combine these 2, together with my comments about an omnipersonal God and we start to see yet another marvel. For every human being that has ever lived, God has had a plan. And for each plan for an individual’s life we could divide it up into many plans far more detailed, intricate and lasting than any we could make for ourselves.

It has been said that the best way to make God laugh is to tell Him our plans. But when God tells us His plans we should fall on our knees and praise Him and forever treasure His plans for our lives.

Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
